Teche Regional Medical Center Now Offers Gastric Balloons, as a Non-Surgical Solution to Assist Patients in Losing and Maintaining Weight
April 6, 2018
At Teche Regional Medical Center we are excited to share that we are now offering a non-surgical solution for individuals who are having difficulty losing and maintaining their weight.
The U.S. Food and Drug Administration has approved a gastric balloon solution to assist adult patients suffering from obesity – with a body mass index (BMI) of 30 to 40 – in losing and maintaining weight. This gastric balloon solution is a safe and effective weight loss solution with 20 years of global experience and real world results. More than 220,000 balloons distributed worldwide in over 80 countries. Dr. Tomas Birriel, a General Surgeon will be will be the first in this area to offer this new tool at Teche Regional Medical Center in helping people achieve their weight loss goals. In addition, he is offering a $500 discount for patients through June, 2018.
This new balloon is part of a Managed Weight Loss System, a comprehensive, non-surgical two-part program that includes a balloon filling space in a patient’s stomach to reinforce proper portion control.
Data collected in the U.S. clinical trial has shown that the average person lost 3.1 times the weight as compared with diet and exercise alone within six months. Dr. Birriel recognizes that obesity is a chronic disease and we are pleased to be able to offer this new, minimally invasive solution, to help transform the lives of patients before their disease progresses and requires more invasive treatment.
