Rachel Torres Named Teche Regional’s 2018 Mercy Award Winner

April 13, 2018

Teche Regional Medical Center recently announced that Rachel Torres has been recognized as the hospital’s 2018 Mercy Award winner. The Mercy Award recognizes one employee from each of LifePoint Health’s hospitals who profoundly touches the lives of others and best represents the spirit and values on which the company was founded.

The Mercy Award is an annual recognition program established in 2002 to honor the life and contributions of Scott Mercy, LifePoint’s founding chairman and chief executive officer. The award is considered the highest honor a LifePoint employee can receive.

“At Teche Regional Medical Center, we share LifePoint’s commitment to making communities healthier, and we recognize this is supported by the good work and service of our employees both on and off the job,” said Aphreikah DuHaney-West, CEO of Teche Regional Medical Center. “We are extremely proud to recognize Rachel for her efforts on behalf of our patients and our community. She goes above and beyond each and every day to ensure that every person she encounters receives the highest level of care and compassion.”

“Rachel has been a valuable member of the cardiopulmonary staff and Teche team as a Respiratory Therapist for 15 years. She has been recognized on numerous occasions by her peers and patients for displaying a genuine smile along with a caring and compassionate attitude. She is very committed to her faith and devotes her time volunteering in the community,” said Raymond Pisani, Director of Teche Regional’s Cardiopulmonary Department.

“Rachel’s commitment to our facility is admirable. Her pleasant demeanor and smiling face is displayed every day with her peers and carries throughout the facility to the patients she cares for,” said DuHaney-West. “She spends a great deal of time outside the office helping and serving others and is a role model for how all of us should find a way to contribute to the community outside of how we spend our time at work”.

Each hospital winner, including Rachel will be considered for LifePoint’s 2018 company-wide Mercy Award. The company-wide winner will be announced this summer and will be honored at a special celebration in Nashville, Tenn., in August, along with all other hospital winners.
